Three Volumes in the Landscape

The 1,235 m² residence is arranged as three separate volumes linked by glazed galleries. Each building serves a distinct purpose: the central volume accommodates the main living areas, including the living room, kitchen and dining room; the second contains guest and service spaces; and the third is dedicated to the owners’ adult children, with a private wellness area featuring a swimming pool, sauna and hammam.

This arrangement allows several generations of one family to live under the same roof while maintaining a degree of independence. The galleries connect the three buildings without merging their functions, providing sheltered passage between the living areas and establishing a gradual transition from interior spaces to the outdoors.

The spaces between the volumes are an important part of the layout. Courtyards, terraces and gravel paths form a sequence of outdoor areas, with stone surfaces and natural planting defining their character. Rather than treating the landscape as a backdrop, the design incorporates it into the daily experience of moving between the buildings and spending time outdoors.

Steeply pitched roofs give the volumes distinct silhouettes, drawing on familiar forms of residential architecture. Stone, other natural materials and extensive glazing establish a direct relationship with the surroundings. Large windows bring views and changing daylight into the interiors, while the glazed galleries offer glimpses of the courtyards and connect the different parts of the residence visually as well as physically.

By distributing the programme across three interconnected buildings, the project accommodates shared family life alongside individual routines. The resulting layout gives each part of the house its own identity while keeping the entire residence connected through a network of galleries, courtyards and outdoor spaces.
