The design concept was guided by the ambition to capture the full potential of the site – embracing forest views while opening the house generously to the sunlit southern garden. The natural setting, with woodland to the north, posed a unique design challenge: how to merge two contrasting orientations within one fluid living space at the heart of the home? What seemed like a conflict became the very inspiration behind the architecture, shaping a form that harmoniously opens to both worlds.

The arrival sequence begins from the northeast, where the driveway and entrance are defined along the eastern boundary. From here, a strong, rectangular volume stretches along the plot, shielding the entrance zone from the expansive garden unfolding to the north, west, and south.

The plan then unfolds into a striking T-shape, with a wing extending deep into the garden to house the living area. Fully glazed on two sides, this space is bathed in southern sunlight while simultaneously framing serene views of the forest to the north – creating a daily dialogue between openness and intimacy.

Natural timber cladding reinforces the building’s connection to its setting. The rhythm of vertical slats echoes the trunks of surrounding trees, allowing the house to dissolve into the landscape while asserting itself as a contemporary and expressive architectural statement.

Nestled in a lush setting lined with birch trees and hedgerows in Poland, a residential house unfolds whose architectural language is defined by a single, quiet gesture. The curved volume encloses the garden like a protective embrace, creating an intimate outdoor space dedicated entirely to the interplay of architecture and landscape. The façade of vertical timber slats, transitioning in tone from warm natural wood to dark, weathered grey, lends the building a sculptural depth. Inside, the slatted timber structure continues as a unifying motif, accompanying the residents through living, dining and bathing areas where polished floors, restrained materials and carefully placed views create an atmosphere of calm and shelter. The curved geometry guides light differently across the façade surfaces throughout the day, drawing the house into a silent dialogue with its surroundings.

minimal windows® as glazed openings within the curve

Where the wooden volume opens towards the garden, large-format minimal windows® sliding elements and fixed glazing take over the facade of the open-plan living room. The floor-to-ceiling glass surfaces are fitted flush into the reveals, creating a wide, unobstructed view from the living and dining area across the adjoining terrace into the enclosed garden. The defining feature of this arrangement lies in the parallel positioning of two sliding systems, which completely open the central living space from both sides. This creates a line of sight that illuminates the room throughout its entire depth and integrates the surrounding landscape into the interior from two sides. A low step marks the transition from inside to outside, connecting the different levels of the terrace and lawn into a legible spatial sequence. The slim profiles subordinate themselves to the strict rhythm of the wooden slats, preserving the cohesive appearance of the facade. On the upper floor, precisely placed fixed glazing frames the views of the surrounding trees and brings daylight deep into the private rooms.
