Our concept for ‘tomorrow’s hotel’ has been derived from ‘tomorrow’s guest,’ who will be looking for a truly unique but sustainable experience: well travelled and well informed, the guest of the future is committed to high quality, responsible travel and researches a hotel’s credentials online before booking.

This means that the guest experience starts with the hotel’s website and then follows through to the brand, the building and the details. Hotels therefore need to offer a ‘total experience’ rather than just a place to stay. We have developed four signature elements which will deliver distinctive, bespoke hotels which also share a consistent identity and present a recognisable universal brand: the re-use of existing buildings and the utilisation of natural resources; room pods made from locally sourced, recycled materials; an amazing food experience using fresh produce grown in-house; and a local community established around the hotel that embraces its core values of sustainable living. Our prototype takes an imaginary site in London and implements these key features, reinventing an existing building as an ‘urban oasis’ hotel. The ‘atrium farm’ in the centre becomes the focus of the hotel, with room pods arranged around it. The roof is an innovative water-collecting device that channels all the water into the centre of the building.
