Moat's Corner is a beautiful private residence located in Melbourne's Mornington The project was designed by Jack Lovel with a focus on coexisting with the natural environment. The main challenge was to respect the site's rich history, which was marked by a pioneering family and a dedicated gardener's legacy. To achieve this, the design team created a home that occupies the existing footprint while fostering a deep connection with the surrounding gardens. This is a house located in a residential park, designed with a maximum footprint of 250m2, to preserve its natural surroundings. The butterfly-shaped floor plan consists of a zone for cooking and eating, a relaxing/living area, and an office on the ground level. The first floor has reflective glazing, which reflects the trees and clouds and is covered in dark red lacquer. The house has clear lines, plain elegance, and spectacular openness, thanks to the slender, modern window elements from Keller. The boomerang-shaped ground floor frames the pool on the south side of the house, and the living space is optimally combined with the patio. The house has a fully opening minimal windows® outside corner solution, which creates a barrier-free connection to the villa’s patio and garden.
