The combination of organization, well-chosen colors and materials, comfortable furniture, pleasant temperature and cozy lighting is one of the factors that help promote well-being and quality of life within environments. And this was the main objective in creating the interior design of Apartamento Elo, which will be the home of an elderly couple and the setting for many stories with their family. The renovation of the property, which is more than 40 years old and measures 52m², was designed with a view to healthy aging for clients, but with modernity and sophistication in the details.
Right at the entrance it is possible to see a large integrated room, meeting the need for space to gather family members. Despite living alone, clients would like to receive visitors sporadically without compromising the apartment's space for accommodation. Here's the solution: a seasonal room. What was previously just a common guest room, which took up a lot of space in the property and had little use, now has two functions, both as part of the living room and as a private bedroom, if necessary. When closed, the wooden door allows the total isolation of the living room area, preserving guest privacy and ensuring comfort with a sofa bed, leather armchair, utility closet and continuous LED local lighting. The door can also be easily opened at any time, allowing people to freely move around the space.
The kitchen, which previously had an old classic design and was limited by two fixed columns that could not be removed from the project, was transformed into an open concept, with deep gray tones in the joinery and a large white marble island, with a built-in cooktop. With cabinets throughout its entire length, the kitchen, despite being compact, became extremely functional, solving the problem of lack of space for utensils, reported by the clients when creating the architectural project. One of the building's structural columns, which could not be removed, received mirrors across its entire surface, as did the china cabinet located next to the sofa. A utilitarian solution that offers the feeling of more space to the environment.
In the living room, the textures set the tone for the comfort that the apartment offers, making use of every m². The sideboard behind the sofa, in black joinery, in addition to being part of the decoration, also holds two contrasting straw benches. While the union between the linen rug and the cream-colored sofa maintains the harmony of neutral tones, the contrast appears again through the black of the slatted cabinet built into the television panel.
Entering the intimate area of the apartment, there is another interesting structural solution in the project: the transformation of a large bathroom into two smaller ones. Now, in addition to a guest bathroom, the couple has a private suite. Both with woody coverings and attached niches, allowing more space for the shower.
In the master suite, built-in closets offer plenty of space for personal items and contrast between deep gray and ivory. In the right corner, the desk is complemented by a comfortable gray armchair, becoming an area for reading and using the computer.
