Located on the second floor of a historic building in the heart of Milan, just a short walk from the Sforza Castle, this comprehensive renovation and interior design project by R2+ reinterprets a spacious apartment while enhancing the distinctive architectural features of Milanese heritage.

The existing layout was carefully refined to improve the overall functionality of the home, including the addition of a second bathroom and a more ergonomic organization of the living spaces.

Particular attention was devoted to the restoration of the apartment's original character. The decorative door and window architraves were meticulously reinstated, as were the ornamental plaster ceiling mouldings. The original timber flooring, which had suffered significant deterioration over time, was restored through sanding and selective replacement, preserving the traditional laying pattern typical of historic Milanese residences.

The interior palette is defined by neutral wall finishes and understated bespoke joinery, creating an elegant contrast with the rich textures of the restored parquet flooring and traditional cement tiles.

The interior design scheme is completed with contemporary furnishings and carefully selected lighting fixtures, whose clean lines establish a refined dialogue with the apartment's classical architectural setting.
