Located in the small alpine village of Lottano, «Casa a Lottano” stands as an experiment in returning to inhabiting uninhabited cores.
The entire intervention is based on a respectful relationship with the existing.
Of the existing rustic house the stone perimeter walls are retained, its load-bearing function is maintained.

A metal skeleton is installed inside to replace the old wooden one, which was irreparably damaged. The adjacent stone volume, posthumous and now reduced to rubble, is rebuilt maintaining the original volumetry but presenting itself with a new wooden core. The south façade is opened as a large portal, the glass emphasizing the loss of a physical boundary, configuring a hybrid space between interior and exterior. Iron is untangled throughout the building as a common thread : each structural component is recognized as a net black line.
