Casa T

The residence, located in the Horizon condominium in Estância Velha/RS, was designed on three levels to adapt to the slope of the terrain. The lower volume, half-buried in the lot, serves as the base for the intermediate volume, where the social and service areas are located. Its roof creates a living terrace, perfect for watching the sunset, connected to the higher volume, where the private area is located with 3 suites, which have access to a large terrace with a privileged view of the surroundings.

The entrance is via the lower level, which houses a two-car garage and storage rooms. Going up the stairs, you reach the social area of the house, from where you can already see the patio with a swimming pool and the beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. The large glass frames allow the living room, dining room and kitchen to be connected to the outside. With these sliding French doors completely open, the interior and exterior dissolve into a single area, a sensation stimulated by the continuous floor and ceiling treatments on both sides of the frame, in addition to the high window on the opposite side of the living room, which creates a gap between the wall and ceiling and makes the house seem even more open.

On this floor, there is also the service area, a toilet, and a study room with a playroom for the couple's son, leaving the private area reserved for the top floor only. The three private suites have direct access to the terrace installed on the roof of the social area, either through their sliding French windows, which allow for maximum natural lighting, or through a simple door camouflaged in the wooden covering of the wall.

The house’s materiality is formed by natural stone, concrete, wood – present in the ceiling of the social area and in the wall covering of the private area facing the terrace – and, finally, the black surfaces that tie all the textures together into a cohesive whole.
