2-storey apartment (Duplex) totaling 160.0m² located close to the Ipiranga Museum, area - SP.
The building, made up of 2 relatively low towers (9 floors), one of which is set back from the street (in which our apartment is located), brought a pleasant and less metropolitan atmosphere as it is located on a relatively low floor and has this “breathing” ” visual and sound with the distance from the street.
This immediately directed us to make the most of this feature and create an apartment where residents could have an inviting outdoor area with its beautiful view and tranquility on its second floor (characteristics that we don't seem to be talking about in an apartment in the city of São Paulo). Paul). Not surprisingly, this floor houses the entire living and entertainment area of the apartment with its Home Theater, Dining Table, Gourmet Space, deck, garden and Jacuzzi.
With a typical floor plan of new developments in the city, small and compartmentalized environments, the 8th floor (social entrance to the apartment) had the balcony's original framing and masonry removed, integrating the balcony into the living room. The glazing of the balcony made the spiral staircase an important internal visual element (and why not, external too as it is a focal point for those looking at the building from the street).
The almost complete restoration of the original spiral staircase and its finishing in yellow automotive paint leaves no doubt about the vertical circulation axis between the floors. The Cumaru wooden floor gave us the warmth we wanted, mixed with rustic elements such as burnt cement and brick coverings. The white lining was important to balance this set of textures. To avoid “cluttering” the spaces, we thought of linear joinery elements with more monochromatic tones and close to the walls, leaving the central part of the spaces for circulation. The modern and simple furniture gave the expected lightness. The lighting project was extremely important considering that the apartment only receives light on one of its sides, leaving the side opposite the windows without much light.
On the 9th floor, where we only had an uncovered slab, we were able to leave the creation side looser. We designed a metal structure that would serve as a Home Theater and Dining Room (when the table we designed with wheels was under the roof and not outside), occupying 1/3 of the original slab, leaving the rest as an external area (2/ 3). We chose to follow a more industrial style on this floor, differentiating it from the lower floor.
With visible electrical finish, as well as the metal structure itself; Rustic coverings mixed with bricks, cement, wood and some vertical wall elements distributed in the external area, we achieved the industrial look we wanted. The external string of lights and the plastic wood deck running along the entire length of the external area gave the Rooftop an air that we compared a bit with the Apartments in the neighborhood of Brooklyn – NY, giving it a very homely, modern, young and cozy feel where its residents can enjoy it with their family and friends.
