Ferraro House is a single-family residence located in a nautical gated community in Tigre, north of Buenos Aires. Boasting exclusive access to the natural canal that borders the site, the house is sited along a north-south axis at the head of a cul-de-sac; this strategic position results in only one neighboring lot, with two of its boundaries directly facing the water.
The architectural scheme comprises three stacked and cantilevered concrete volumes, creating a series of semi-covered expansions and terraced gardens. These volumes establish a vertical sequence of spaces—an architectural procession—that ascends from public areas to the most private quarters, culminating in a landscaped rooftop. By elevating the core program, every room achieves a direct, contemplative connection with the landscape, an effect further enhanced by expansive, continuous ribbon windows.
The ground-floor entrance hall was designed as a flexible, multi-purpose space. The perimeter glazing can be fully retracted to create a seamless, "through-room" effect, connecting the front garden with the private dock. This level also houses more contained functional areas, such as the garage and the quincho (grill area), which doubles as nautical storage. A service area faces the street, while an open deck extends toward the pool and the canal.
On the first floor, a central circulation spine bifurcates the program: two bedrooms with a shared bathroom occupy the front, while the social heart—living, dining, and kitchen—is oriented southward to capture long-range views of the river.
The second floor is entirely dedicated to the master suite, integrating a study, a walk-in closet, and a covered balcony. Every space on this level overlooks the surrounding scenery and provides access to a lush roof garden featuring native species.
Casa Ferraro is constructed entirely of exposed board-formed concrete, complemented by lapacho wood interior detailing to provide tactile warmth. Black aluminum frames pair with a system of operable micro-perforated metal shutters that optimize cross-ventilation and natural light. The precision of the modulated phenolic formwork ensures visual continuity in the concrete’s texture, achieving a seamless integration between the structural rigor and the material finish.
