Situated within Taguspark, a prestigious science and technology park in Portugal, this showroom and office space has been meticulously crafted to reflect the ethos of Life Emotions, a dynamic and forward-thinking company. Spanning 80 square meters, the office features a striking double-height ceiling enclosed within a modern structure of concrete and glass.
At the core of this project lies the vision to craft diverse spaces with distinct functions that seamlessly interconnect and harmonize.
With the multifaceted demands of the building in mind, the office design ingeniously incorporated a mezzanine level. Here, it was allocated different spaces with specific purposes, the CEO's office, a meeting room accommodating 8 to 10 individuals, a small laboratory dedicated to technological experimentation, a compact yet functional kitchenette, and ample storage provisions. To make it seamless and lightness allowing the light to come, all the spaces were divided by glass combined with carpentry designed exclusivity to suppress the need for storages. Downstairs, the ground floor hosts workstations for a team of 10, a cozy living room divided by a curved curtain, and a lounge area designed to welcome reception or a waiting area.
Among the myriad challenges encountered in this endeavour, one of paramount importance was ensuring an abundance of natural light permeating the mezzanine spaces. This objective was achieved through the strategic placement of a staircase along the rear facade of the building and the closing of the other face of the mezzanine with a big wall of glass. The selection of a perforated mesh for the staircase construction catalyzed the entire aesthetic narrative of the project. By embracing natural light, the perforated mesh not only facilitates internal illumination but also contributes to an overarching sense of openness and transparency. This transparency serves as a metaphor for the organic evolution of the office environment, with the staircase emerging as a dynamic sculptural feature, subtly animating the space.
The spatial strategy adopted was one of fluidity, transparency, and functionality, wherein dedicated meeting spaces offer different experiences throughout the day. A gracefully curved curtain on the main floor serves a dual purpose, enabling spatial separation and isolation when required, while also imbuing the space with a sense of dynamism, coziness, and lightness and also the purpose of minimizing the noise.
In a deliberate break from the company brand's color black-and-white color scheme, a warm, toasted yellow hue fills the kitchenette, being enhanced by indirect lighting and the black marble. This thoughtful juxtaposition injects vibrancy and warmth into the space, creating the narrative of a cozy corner for socializing and sharing. An inviting ambiance conducive to creativity and relaxation.
A rich selection of materials and textures, such as glass, mirrors, black and white wood, and a striking zig-zag pattern adorning the main wall, imbues the space with depth and visual interest. Each element has been meticulously curated to create focal points that draw the eye and spark inspiration.
Central to the ethos of this modern workplace is a sense of flexibility and personalization, both of which are integral to the design philosophy of Life Emotions. By seamlessly blending the spirit of business with a luminous and contemporary commercial environment, this project serves as an engine for innovation and connectivity. It embodies an open connection, serving as a conduit between the company and its physical space, fostering collaboration and creativity in equal measure.
