The project is located on Rua do Benformoso, next to Praça do Martim Moniz, in Lisbon, an area characterized by a frenetic and accelerated rhythm, as well as a multicultural environment. 

It consists in a rehabilitation of an apartment at the top of a building, for a temporary housing unit. This typology is defined by a short and intense duration of stay, which offers an opportunity to explore different types of living experiences, different from everyday life.

The spatial configuration that was found, a cross-division which resulted in four similar spaces, did not serve the new purpose. In this way, and in response to the program, it was established a new organization, taking part from a central volume [module] that does not touch the limits of the pre-existence.

The module contains, inside, the kitchen and storage spaces and marks the separation between social and private areas of the house. At the top a bedroom is created, taking advantage of the sloped roof but not touching it, contributing to a spatial fluidity, unusual in traditional dwellings. 

It is constructed with light steel frame structure, in order not to add weight to the building, and is covered with MDF panels, coated in white, for a good light propagation. The same panels are used, in the social area, but with a pattern of circular perforations, which makes a softer transition for the kitchen, allowing this space not to become segregated and lightless.  

For last, the relationship with the city happens at the extremes of the dwelling, through the use of trapeiras: to the East, the original window frame was kept, and to the West the existing one was increased to take greater advantage of the sunlight and the view of the hill.
