Located in the heart of the preserved village of Chigny, the project houses the municipal registry, the municipality hall and three flats.

Looking for a calm integration, almost silent in its environment, the architectural language is contextual, proposing a contemporary reinterpretation of the rural vocabulary. Particular care has been taken in the envelope, its geometries, its materialization - mineral and wood - and the treatment and expression of its openings.

The communal program occupies the ground floor and assumes its public role, in relation to the street, the square, the village.

The 3 apartments are distributed by a small outdoor corridoroffering each apartment a direct and independent access from the outside. The typologies of the apartments are varied and exploit specifically the potential of the new building.

This intervention in the heart of the village was also an opportunity to enhance the public space, connect the village squares between them and limit the presence of cars.The pedestrian path between public spaces is improved and secured, reinforcing the idea of ​​a true “heart of the village” and creating opportunities for meetings.

The preoccupation of a responsible realization concerning sustainable development was particularly focused on heating. The heat production is ensured by an innovative mixedsolar-ice system and a heat pump, type 'Icesol'.
