Penthouse is located in the center of Nizhny Novgorod. The main advantage of this property is a spacious panoramic terrace with an area of about 200 square meters.
The main idea of the interior was to preserve the original space of the main space with large windows and an exit to the terrace, which overlooks the Volga River. Zoning of the living room is built around a multifunctional "cube", which contains a wood-burning fireplace, a projector screen, seasonal storage and two bathrooms.
From the living room one can enter all the main rooms of the apartment. In the dining area there is an entrance to the kitchen with brass cabinets and countertop, as well as a small breakfast island. Behind the fireplace there is the entrance to a separate study overlooking a small garden on the terrace. The bedroom and children's rooms are located at the opposite facade of the house, with windows facing the historic center of the city.
The interior is designed in a minimalist aesthetic: a neutral background (white walls, warm-toned wooden floors) with color accents throughout the rooms and accents on art objects from the customers’ collection.
One of the objectives of the VAL project was to expand the area of the apartment through an extension. So, a small laconic building with a summer kitchen and a compact gym appeared on the terrace.
In addition to the new building the terrace has an area for a wood-burning fireplace, sun loungers, a secluded area for reading and stargazing, as well as low-maintenance perennial landscaping. Along the perimeter of the terrace there is a bench for sitting, on which there are concrete insulated tubs with grasses and herbs.
In the summer kitchen area edible herbs are planted: mint, lemon balm, rosemary, oregano, which can be used for cooking. Low maintenance trees are planted on the terrace: bird cherry, lilac, mock orange, cotoneaster, viburnum and willow.
The hearth area is separated on both sides by boxes with hedera; this is the only hanging plant in this project, which must be replaced every year, since it does not survive the winter.
The area of sun loungers and a small garden in front of the office windows are covered with white marble pebbles.
