Located in Roskilde, the project comprises the careful restoration of a heritage villa, with a strong focus on preserving the building’s original architectural character, materiality and historic expression.
The project included the comprehensive restoration of the timber frame, the construction of a new roof structure and improvements to the building’s thermal performance through additional insulation. All interventions were developed with respect for the existing building, its historic materials and traditional construction methods.
The project brings together the architectural qualities of the historic house with contemporary requirements for functionality, comfort and energy efficiency. New interventions were carefully integrated into the existing structure, ensuring that the result remains coherent with the building’s original character while meeting the demands of contemporary living.
Approach
The restoration was guided by a philosophy of careful conservation, material authenticity and high-quality craftsmanship. Materials and construction techniques were selected with particular attention to the building’s historic character, combining traditional building practices with carefully considered contemporary solutions.
As architect and building consultant, Blokk was responsible for architectural design, consultancy and professional coordination throughout the project — from the initial investigations and assessment of the existing building to the completed restoration.
Result
The completed house demonstrates how architectural heritage can be renewed through a sensitive and considered approach. By placing emphasis on material quality, craftsmanship and architectural coherence, Blokk has helped ensure that the villa on Frederiksborgvej retains its distinctive character and architectural integrity for generations to come.
