New quarter within the framework of BUGA
The winner of a competition proceeding is a building which is an important component of the so called‚ Quarter of variaty‘ of BUGA 2019. The building located at the southwest corner of the construction site, represents one of the most prominent locations within the urban quarter because of its orientation towards the lake. The new building provides collective communication and service offerings as well as semi-public/public functions.

 

Public use and short term accommodation
The entrance level is withheld to public use of a quarter-café, run by the charitable foundation Lichtenstern which is employing people with and without disabilities. Connected is a laundry for residents of the building as well as for those of the whole quarter.

 

On five levels stacked there are 18 attractive two and three roomed apartments - the so called CINARI-suites. They offer a hotel-like stay for duration of 3 to 12 months.

 

The flats with underground parking are designed for the modernist standards. Towards the lake, the circulating loggia precast concrete components offer the possibility of expanding the living space to the BUGA-landscape.

 

The roof garden is designed as an extraordinary outdoor space with various possible uses. The sculptural formed panel of the lift pit and the staircase symbolize a natural transition to the levels. Textile awnings invigorate the patio and support the joint, house-related as well as the extern uses and events with a view of the city area and the BUGA.

 

Construction, facades and energy
The supporting exterior wall consists of precast concrete components whose assembly allowed an accelerated construction time. The precast components have despite their carrying function, large window openings with integrated electric opeated sunscreen.

 

The windows and the bordering glass element frames consist of massive swiss pine as an exciting counterpart to the exposed concrete surfaces as well as to provide a friendly living atmosphere in the interior space.

 

The prominent filter of curtained vertical aluminium fins allows the essential sunscreen of the flats and offers the necessary fall protection and the privacy shield of the loggias.

 

Based on the energy concept for the entire quarter, the building is designed as KfW 55-standard according to ENEV 2016.

The load-bearing outer wall consists of prefabricated concrete parts with large window openings and integrated sun protection.The prominent filter of vertical aluminium fins offer sunscreen anda privacy shield of the flats.
