On a former campsite is the plan area ' The Nieuwkoopse Eilanden ' realized. The new building plots are spread over a number of headlands between the Nieuwkoopse Plassen and Zuideinderplas.
The seemingly simple house is characterized by a sturdy use of brickwork with a recessed joint and has two special roof overhangs in the volume. The overhang at the front increase’s visibility from the road and at the rear facade a veranda with a view over the water arises.
At the ground floor the kitchen flows into the living room. The kitchen is located on the street side for contact with the neighborhood and the terrace can be used for the morning coffee. The living room is out of sight, which makes it cozy and private. A skylight has been made in the roof above the stairs, which means that in the normally darkest part of the house there is now plenty of daylight. The bedrooms are on the first floor. These are all oriented to the view and the light all around. The bathroom is also located on the façade which provides the room a lot of daylight.
The roof is equipped with solar cells and solar collectors integrated into the flat roof tiles. The house is heated and cooled by a heat pump.
