Natural Light and Timeless Materials in an Apartment

Located in a contemporary residential building in the Rio Branco neighborhood of Porto Alegre, the project is centered on maximizing the natural light provided by its eastern orientation. Wooden blinds allow daylight to filter through the interiors in a controlled manner, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow that reveals textures, accentuates volumes, and transforms the perception of the spaces throughout the day.

The material palette is defined by a restrained and timeless selection of finishes, where different shades of brown establish a continuous dialogue between the environments. Duetto quartzite, featured in the monolithic kitchen island, is paired with coffee-colored lacquered cabinetry and natural wood panels, creating a warm and sophisticated atmosphere.

A large curved wooden panel wraps around the building's existing structural elements and becomes the project's primary organizing feature. Beyond shaping the entrance hall with integrated seating and a coat area, it incorporates a bar facing the social spaces, conceals large kitchen appliances such as the refrigerator and wine cooler, hides the laundry room entrance, and seamlessly integrates the remaining apartment doors, reinforcing the perception of a single continuous architectural volume.

In the living area, a large modular sofa in a mustard tone becomes the focal point of the space. Its flexible configuration encourages different ways of gathering and lounging, offering multiple seating arrangements while introducing a distinctive element that contrasts with the restrained palette of the surrounding materials.

The interior design is guided by meticulous attention to detail, where sophistication emerges through the balanced relationship between materials, proportions, and spatial experience. Every element was carefully considered to integrate architecture, furniture, and lighting into a cohesive composition that enhances both functionality and everyday living.
