With the Zukunftsmeile ("future mile"), a research and development cluster for product and production innovations was created in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. The economy provides the questions, the universities place their interdisciplinary knowledge at the service of project implementation.
The first building block of this initiative has been realised with the research building for 'Intelligent Technical Systems' in 2011. The cubic building is placed in the context of the ensemble of the Heinz Nixdorf Institute, the HNF Museum Forum and the b.i.b / University of Applied Sciences of the Economy.
Together with the boulevard, the new building will extend the entire complex to the southeast towards the extension area of the campus. It will thus be the start of the future development of the overall project. The building sees itself as a flexible, future-oriented building. It contains areas for exchange, discourse and presentation as well as smaller rooms for concentrated research.
