On the Asian shore of the Bosphorus in Anadoluhisarı, 181 House sits on a 4,000 m² waterfront plot facing the strait. escapefromsofa reworked the interior of this historic house as a contemporary family home, keeping the character of the original building while adapting it to everyday life.
The ground floor is organised around the view. From the entrance hall, the living room opens between travertine columns and curved wall panelling, with a central niche window framing the water. The dining room follows the same curved geometry, with arched windows, a stone table and an integrated stone fireplace. A 300 m² terrace extends the living spaces toward the shore.
The upper floor holds the private rooms. The master suite is quiet and restrained, with oak frames, soft light and a pale stone en-suite. Two children's rooms and a family living room complete the floor. Under the onion-domed roof, the attic becomes a gathering place, with a round table and an observation terrace looking across the Bosphorus.
Ceiling mouldings, an earthy palette of travertine, marble and oak, and custom-designed furniture tie the interior to the history of the house and to its natural setting.
