GREY LJUBLJANA WORKPLACE DESIGN

Grey Workplace Design Project

Kragelj as Workplace Design

Grey Ljubljana, a part of the 1917-established global network, has blossomed into a full-scale advertising agency since its 1996 founding. Their fast and steady growth called for much-needed changes in their work environment.

A suboptimal and often chaotic workspace spurred their search for new offices, with Grey contacting Kragelj’s client Impakta to inquire about their excellent design. Impakta's recommendation fueled a working relationship, with Kragelj assisting Grey with final decisions about most optimal location for their needs.

In the next step, Kragelj helped Grey negotiate with the landlord, sending much of the costs for both renovation and fit-out for the 517 m2 office space to the building owners, instead of Grey. At the same time, Kragelj conducted workplace analysis to assess employees needs and company goals, and then pitched construction and design ideas directly to Grey EMEA leadership in London, receiving the necessary green light.

Kragelj’s objectives for the Grey workplace design project involved creating a transparent environment to optimize communication, productivity, and inspiration for the creatively driven agency. Grey's commitment to improved connectivity and openness required a dynamic, yet simple layout, with 40 flexible workstations, without glass or regular walls, or a single private office.

Noise reduction, aided with big, wooden multileveled cubes, which served as platforms for impromptu meetings or brainstorming, would become essential to avoid the pitfalls of Grey's previous stressful environment. Kragelj further pushed for stylish, comfortable, and ergonomically sound furniture, along with workspace variety.

The 45-day project was on time and on-budget, requiring a complete overhaul of the geometrically complex, once-library and bank space. High ceilings and large windows in the character-driven building brought natural light, thus promoting workplace health and productivity.

Grey Ljubljana positive feedback assures that all rooms are utilized as planned and designed, from the recreational and kitchen areas to the meeting rooms, and informal meeting areas. The design aligned well with Greys brand and culture, allowing for agency's future growth and expansion.
