Hidden in the heart of the Palermo neighborhood in Buenos Aires, a ground-floor studio becomes an acoustic capsule defined by understated design and functional precision. Located within a residential building over 80 years old, the space was transformed to serve as the off-site extension of an architecture office, concealing its professional nature behind a historic façade.

Facing the street and exposed to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic, the studio required a solution that ensured privacy without sacrificing natural light. To achieve this, a second interior skin made of sound-absorbing corrugated plastic was installed on a self-supporting galvanized steel frame. As it approaches the windows, this new layer curves inward like a gill, filtering light and blocking direct views from the outside, while also reducing urban noise.

The intervention also creates a transitional strip between the façade and the workspace, used for complementary functions such as storage and utilities. The space was completely cleared, removing partitions, upgrading systems, and preserving only the kitchen and bathroom, which were renovated. The aesthetic was resolved through a palette dominated by matte black, aiming to convey confidentiality, restraint, and contemporary sophistication. Though lightweight and industrial materials were used, their careful treatment creates an immersive environment calibrated for creative work.
