The land is located in a beautiful landscape of the Jura foothills. On the top of the village of Marnoz near Salins les Bains, on the edge of the existing built-up area up the valley of "Cow", small courtyard flowing in a valley with steep slopes, the natural topography emphasizes the scenic character of the site. However, the plot is characterized by some strong constraints: a single north-facing slope, high gradient (18 meters) and a basement consisting of marl (the site is known for its landslides). In winter the ridge slopes quickly projected shadow on the ground. The house located on the highest point of a hill was not too ostentatious present a position vis-a-vis the village below. It is therefore quite deliberately low, embedded in the soil, and cut into two horizontal layers. The view, both to the remote and rocky headlands to the south than to the north the town of Marnoz is exceptional, but the larger openings are oriented east-west due to the constraints of sunshine combined and slope. The horizon is limited by the last foothills of the Jura mountains before the plain of Doubs. Northern sprocket is cut from a very thin horizontal opening full width at half height of the parts, framing the horizon from the tub or the bed Considering the position and characteristics of the land, new construction refers more to the site's natural topological data at its close built environment without high quality. Its impact on the landscape must be minimized, the implementation in the field particularly studied. This is why the building volume is compact and noticeable height from the provincial road unimportant below. Annexes surfaces path and approaches, which in a steep terrain quickly damage the topography, are reduced to the strict necessary. The construction is divided into two parts: - a mineral base, solid and relatively drilled, half buried in a slope - a lighter roof (wood frame) and largely glazed, is placed on this base. The concrete base is partially dressed in a stapled stone coating, layered in thin horizontal strata. It refers to the surrounding rocky emergences, characteristic of the region. It forms the support for receiving the "pavilion". The roof of the base is a mineral terrace which extends the high ground. And embedded in the slope, only 40% of the surface of its walls is in contact with the outside. The pool is integrated into the volume of the base to limit the impact of the construction and to stay as close to the natural terrain. Much of the program is integrated in this base: rooms, bathrooms and children's playroom, local services and annexes (garage, laundry, cellar, boiler ...) and a painting workshop for the owner. The pavilion, lighter appearance and small (145 m²) is placed on this base. East / West oriented, it opens onto the terrace and pool. It houses the living rooms: a kitchen open to the dining room and living room, as well as areas for Parents (bedroom, bathroom and dressing room). This lodge is very glazed according to the wishes of the owners, except for its northern part, whose facade is covered with a veneer panels "Eternit Naturalis". The roof is made of wooden framework which rests directly on the thermal insulation and sealing complex / vegetation. Given the steepness of the terrain and the reduced height of the building, the roof of the pavilion stretches to reach the high ground. Its cover is visually an extension of vegetated land surface. The hoppers arranged in the roof south eventually receive a white, lightweight canopy that filters the heat of the sun. Today, the grassy field is not planted. Some fruit trees are kept small. The appearance of meadow or pasture is maintained and will not be planted. Only a few low plantings, paths or accompanying a natural thicket sloping edge accompany new construction.
