NAVAN NAVAN MAERIM

This concrete edifice stands as a fine-dining sanctuary in Maerim, Chiangmai. Conceived by a chef transitioning from the chaos of Bangkok, the establishment reflects a desire for serenity, finding its home where the owner's residence resides in Maerim.

The architectural vision was clear: to carve a cave amid the panoramic expanse, following a straightforward blueprint. The design manifests as a simple box with a sloping roof, employing a primitive concrete finishing technique for a textured exterior. Internally, raw concrete walls prevail until the main bar, where a precast technique, devoid of color, enhances the cave-like ambiance.
Spatial organization defines two principal zones— "Dining" and "Service." The former comprises an Entrance corridor, Dining space, and Terrace, while the latter discreetly accommodates kitchen storage and facilities.

Upon entering, patrons traverse a high, narrow space enveloped by raw concrete walls, guided by floor lighting—a deliberate introduction akin to entering a cave before reaching the primary dining area. The dining space strikes a balance of semi kitchen and dining area, with two seating types—bar and wooden dining tables—limiting the capacity to an intimate 12 seats. A lofty wooden ceiling reveals the steel structure of the roof, gracefully sloping towards the space's culmination.

The final area, the terrace, nestled at the lowest point, offers a panoramic vista. Designed for post-dining relaxation, it features a sitting area with a concrete stove for grilling and chilling. After the main course, patrons can unwind with a glass of whiskey, gazing upon the fields and stars.
