Project On December 4th, 2013, NUON took over use of the existing 27,500m2 multi-storeyed building in Amsterdam South-East. This building which is called ‘New Amsterdam’ is now the headquarters of N.V. NUON Energy in the Netherlands.
The renovation of the building can be described as very significant and thorough: both the exterior and interior have been completely redone except for the concrete skeleton: open spaces have been arranged across several floors in the building, and a sixth floor has been added to the building. The building has been certified as BREEAM Very Good.
The new workplace This major project was completed in exactly 15 months. The interior is completely focused on the new workplace: ‘The NU workplace’. The office can accommodate 2,100 FTEs spread over 6 floors. In order to create diversity and orientation in the elongated building, the six Energy Sources of NUON serve as a starting point. Each of these has been converted to have its own specific design. The platforms have been divided into 'neighbourhoods', fully focused on diverse and flexible working. In addition the building offers all the conceivable facilities: reception lobby with a water bar, restaurant with 650 seats, library, espresso bar, service centre, conference centre and a sky lounge.
All graphics and film HEYLIGERS d + p provided the design for the interior. NUON selected Procore in order to carry out the project management. In close cooperation with these two parties Dehullu met the requirement for all graphics and film on the interior and glass walls.
Dehullu placed 3M clearview film on the glass walls provided with a special print. This print is made up of several layers; in the middle a gradient which approaches a sandblast film, over it a print of white balls in the relevant energy source. The result is amazing, it creates privacy and maintains transparency.
The whole with an Airtex background On the inner walls is Airtex wallpaper. This material is printed seamlessly and processed to a height of 5 meters. In addition the great advantage is that it can be folded around corners and furniture. It can be pasted on doors so that the image remains as a complete whole as far as is possible.
Subtle complete protection The property has a lot of glass walls. Apart from the glass walls with 3M clearview film, Dehullu has provided many glass walls with subtle complete protection This is a 3M sandblast film with the energy sources incorporated.
After the main project, in which with all parties worked well together, Dehullu also provided pictures in the lifts, waste stickers in the pantries and various painting activities.
