Perched atop a steep hill bordering the Hudson River, the Nyack residence is a custom-designed modern home that expertly integrates premium timber windows to enhance both views and performance. Strategically placed, these timber windows frame stunning vistas of the Tappan Zee Bridge stretching across the Hudson River. The homeowner, a glazing expert, made the selection of timber windows and doors central to the architectural vision, prioritising aesthetic and functional benefits.
The home’s design capitalises on its elevated location, with the structure composed of a series of interlocking volumes. This configuration maximises site potential, creating a layered, distinctive character. A rich material palette unites these volumes, with traditional natural stone cladding contrasting against dark grey timber window finishes. Certain volumes are clad in Ipe timber, introducing a warmth that evolves with the landscape. Spanning terraces and balconies are crafted from blackened steel along the rear façade, where glass ensures uninterrupted views. This thoughtful blend of materials distinguishes the property, establishing a bold and unique presence.
The timber windows allow natural light to flow throughout the interior, illuminating the space around a striking three-story fireplace that connects each floor.
