Pull & Bear Central Headquarters

The new proposed central headquarters of Pull&Bear is located in Narón. Given the experience that Batlle i Roig had designing the new headquarters of Massimo Dutti in Tordera, it was only logical due to the similarities of the projects to incorporate better solutions to the site.

The proposed geometry of the building is rectangular in shape measuring 180 meters in length by 85 meters in width with two levels in height. The space is an open palafitte structure that allows access to the building with parking on the ground floor.

The plan is comprised of three longitudinal zones. The middle zone is dedicated to circulation with four cores and service spaces. This zone has natural ventilation and better lighting due to four courtyards. The other two longitudinal zones contain work spaces. The north-oriented zone is intended for product design and development activities. In its widest point, it measures upto 37 meters and is naturally illuminated through the glazed north façade. The south-facing zone hosts the parts of the program that require compartmentalization such as meeting rooms, showrooms, private offices, etc. There is also a double height hallway, an open staircase and glazed elevators. The surface area is mimetic with the surrounding woods.

Given its location in the Northwest of the peninsula, there is low solar incidence in the area allowing the building to be completely glazed. Even so, the east and west façades are protected with vertical fins while the south façade with horizontal fins.

The view from the exterior of the enclosure is defined by a skin of extruded aluminum panels, which curves slightly in its corners embracing the three sunniest facades. On this skin, the openings are protected by moving fins. Their technological character relates to the industrial textures of the adjacent buildings. The view of the north side, from the inner street of the enclosure, is configured by a large glazed façade that, due that it is not exposed to direct sunlight, makes it possible to generously illuminate the large work room of the building located on the first floor.

As in Massimo Dutti, the Pull & Bear building has been awarded the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) LEED GOLD qualification in terms of sustainability and energy saving, with particular emphasis on the use of courtyards, technological skins and treatment of the ground floor as an outdoor space ventilated with a parking function.

There were different technical proposals for enclosures and solar protections of the building to the client during the design process of the headquarters of Pull & Bear, Narón. The coincidence in time with the remodeling of a few structures of the same Pull & Bear in Cabanillas, Guadalajara, allowed us to experiment and verify the adequacy of the solutions raised on an existing base. The result, although partial, was the implementation of a new experimental facade on already existing construction, revitalizing the general image of the set and numbers it with the headquarters.
