In dense, inner urban suburbs such as Richmond, it’s becoming increasingly critical that new schools offer as much as possible to the students and also to the local community. Commissioned to deliver a new school for 650 students in years 7-12, our investigations have included the sharing of facilities between school and the local community, to avoid unnecessary replication and optimise cross-cultural learning opportunities.

Two precincts have been developed on nearby sites, one academic and the other sports. The masterplan also incorporates the local council’s proposal for a ‘town square’ link while managing its impact on the school site.

Functioning as the heart of the campus, the academic precinct has been built over 4 levels. The state of the art learning spaces are flexible and promote a range of activities and experiences. The sports precinct provides four new competition-standard netball courts, one of which is internal with showers and toilets, a canteen and administration area. A ground-level Performing Arts space is available for community use outside school hours, and the nearby Richmond Recreation Centre with pool and a gym will be used by the school. Students will also use a food technology facility at the neighbouring Lynall Hall Community School.
