Designing a very small living space requires a thoughtful balance between functionality and aesthetics to maximize usability while creating a comfortable and visually pleasing environment.
The property is located in a newly constructed building in the center of Volos, featuring small-sized apartments on each floor. The primary objective was to create both a functional layout and an aesthetically pleasing environment, aiming to design a space capable of meeting modern user needs. The layout proposal seeks to accommodate both owner-occupation and the commercial exploitation of the property through short-term rentals.
Given the limited dimensions, the spatial organization prioritizes maintaining an open-plan area over the use of partitions to minimize circulation spaces and achieve spatial integration. Adjacent to the entrance, the kitchen and bathroom are positioned, leaving a movement corridor to facilitate unobstructed access to and from the living/sleeping area.
Particular emphasis was placed on the textures and visual appeal of materials, accentuated by lighting. For this reason, white marble-effect tiles were chosen for the flooring throughout the space (both in the open-plan area and the bathroom), complemented by small surfaces in darker tones. Clean lines and neutral colors in the kitchen, along with the work and dining surfaces, create an atmosphere of tranquility and relaxation.
Perimeter concealed linear lighting, installed in the kitchen and bathroom, imparts a sense of luxury, enhancing the space for both residential and hospitality use.
