The interior that is a home in the heart of the city of Valencia. Located in the Ruzafa neighborhood, it is in a strategic enclave of the emerging city.

The commission
When we were commissioned to do the interior, we were faced with a building in a very deteriorated state. The flat required a complete refurbishment in order to be inhabited, while at the same time it had great potential: its orientation and its height. The main façade where the living-dining room and kitchen would be located faces southeast. An ideal orientation for these rooms, as it has direct lighting throughout the day. In addition, the surrounding constructions are of low height, which gives it a privileged position for the entry of light and cross ventilation.

The commission came to the studio from a young creative young woman who wanted a home that would suit her, as she would live and work in it. She asked us to renovate a home that would satisfy all her vital needs, both functional and aesthetic. She was looking for a space where every element was in its place and where there were no coincidences. Everything had to be perfectly thought out.

He asked us to avoid ornamentation and excessive furniture. He only wanted the minimum necessary to maintain order in his home, where he would spend long hours. Therefore, we came up with the idea of a band of cupboards that would run through the whole house. The band integrates the kitchen, close to the façade, the laundry in the central part of the corridor and the wardrobe at the end and in the master bedroom. This would provide spatial order and offer the necessary storage.

The curve
After the demolition work was completed, we discovered that a ventilation duct and the building's sanitation facilities ran through the center of the house, right in front of the entrance. In order to avoid a right-angle break at this central, central point, we chose to use curves, an ‘ese’ shape, to integrate the ducts. What had initially seemed like a problem became an opportunity, a characteristic and iconic element of the house. At the same time, it facilitated the possibility of creating an additional room in the house.

Therefore, the curved forms of the ese interior that are born from a premise given by the pre-existence. This necessity gives rise to organic shapes that facilitate the integration of the different elements of the construction such as the installations and the pillars. Making the most of the available space and surface area, while at the same time offering a unique and harmonious visual aesthetic.

Materiality
For the materiality of the house, warm and cream tones and light woods have been chosen. The chosen flooring is a natural oak wood floor, the walls are painted in RAL 9001. The linen textiles used for the curtains serve to protect from light and outside views.
