M+Y House is a residential project located in Jakarta, Indonesia. This house is designed for one family where his son just got married and live together. The programs include a living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, and guest room on the first floor. Another living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and 2 kids bedroom on the second floor. 

We made an industrial natural look facade with a combination of exposed concrete, steel, wood, and black color. The façade form creates a shape of an elongated box with a tilted axis on its sidelined with wooden elements. The building itself is dominated by large window openings to maximize light entering the house.

This house has a main entrance to access all the main rooms of this building. besides that, there is also a service entrance to access the service area so that activities in this area are separate and not visible from the main rooms of this building.

On the first floor, there are stairs stored behind the wall that serves as an introduction to the main entrance. The stairs are concretized for the family on the 2nd floor, leading to reserved space that does not interfere with the first floor.

Besides that, there’s a spacious living room without insulation along with a dirty kitchen, clean kitchen, and dining room This space is designed without any partitions to fulfill the functional request of wider space since the client holds fellowships prayer every week. We put a large void in the middle of the building with large windows to get maximum lighting and airflow in every room in this building.

On the second floor, there is one master bedroom and 2 children’s bedrooms. Besides that, there are also a living room and spacious pantry aimed for family living on this floor. With this basic concept, the format captures 2 lives in 1 house.
