Ethereal. This is how this spectacular house by inHAUS on the Costa de la Calma (Majorca) appears. The lower volumes seem to levitate above the terrain. With no supports in sight, the perception that the villa flies over the terrain generates that sensation of tranquillity and peace that characterises this project. A Mediterranean-style villa that stands out in a luxury residential area in the municipality of Calviá. Cream and earth tones on the façades contribute to a perfect integration in the Balearic wooded landscape. With high-end cabins and optimum quality, this villa stands as a paradigm of premium modular housing.
In this 342 m² made-to-measure home, the volumes play, hovering, almost perched, on an impossibly steep terrain. This apparent lightness allows, even if it is still possible, to reinforce the sense of calm. The subtlety of the house's supports gives it a distinct character.
The day area, in the upper part, houses the kitchen, living room and office and leads to the swimming pool and terrace. Communication with the lower floor, the night area, is via a steel latticed staircase in transition, which appears to be circular among the pine trees. Another impact of tranquillity is enjoyed on reaching the open courtyard towards a distributor and a yoga area.
Earth-toned ceramics, indigenous single-layer mortar finishes, this time in cream and neutral tones, large windows, paving and marés stones blend the solid volumes into a natural terrain. The house emerges slowly from the grove.
The controlled autochthonous vegetation, the pine forest and the view of the sea make the interior and exterior coexist in chromatic harmony. A paradisiacal mountain sloping down to the sea is the location of this house in the Costa de la Calma development.
There is always something special about setting up a house on an island: first by land, then by sea and then by road again. The lushness of the trees and the narrowness of the roads of the urbanisation were saved by the experience of the entire team for an implantation that had to be completed without daylight.
