The Juhu Beach Apartment revamp project, executed by Ikshana Design Studio, sought to transform a small, cozy space into a modern, light-filled home that maximized functionality while maintaining aesthetic appeal. The client’s brief was to reimagine their apartment, ensuring it felt fresh, spacious, and connected to the beach without the need for a new property. With a decent budget in hand, the design aimed to incorporate creative space planning and thoughtful material choices. The core design philosophy for this project revolves around creating a fluid, edge-free, and natural light filled space that feels larger and more expansive. The design focuses on blending functionality with aesthetic appeal through the use of contemporary finishes, natural materials, and innovative space planning. The idea was to maximize natural light by introducing additional windows and creating a sense of openness through the use of curved edges in the walls, furniture, and ceiling corners, which helped eliminate sharp lines and created a smooth, organic flow throughout the apartment. Light-colored flooring and wall-ceiling shades were used to provide a clean, clear background, allowing the furniture and decor to stand out while making the space feel larger and airier.

The use of warm wood and brass tones in the furniture added a cozy and inviting atmosphere, balancing contemporary design with comfort. Niche storage areas were integrated into the design, offering functional spaces for artifacts and books while adding visual depth. These niches were carefully crafted using the building’s massing blocks, enhancing both the design’s utility and aesthetics. Special attention was given to the client’s needs by creating a dedicated temple space in the master bedroom and a water purification and storage area in the kitchen, blending practicality with spiritual and functional needs. The combination of custom wooden and brass furniture, alongside curated wallpapers and upholstery, gave the apartment a contemporary yet timeless feel. The result is a harmonious blend of comfort, style, and functionality, transforming the small apartment into a bright, open, and cozy living space that perfectly aligns with the client’s vision of a modern beachside retreat.
