2. Project Description
The Living Room is a 100-square-meter bar located in the heart of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Designed by ShapeUs Studio, this project reimagines the traditional Vietnamese living room as a modern, industrial-style bar. It evokes both familiarity and sophistication—an intimate place to gather, sip wine, and unwind.
The space is structured around key functional zones: a sunken wine bar, a concealed wine cellar, an upper deck, tasting room, outdoor kitchen, and service areas. The sunken bar—clad in raw concrete and muted red hues—offers a cozy, immersive experience, while the hidden wine cellar, inspired by crystal forms, introduces a mysterious elegance.
Warm wood, cool concrete, and touches of reflective glass and polished metal define the material palette. Modular furniture, recessed shelving for decanters and vinyl collections, and a bold color scheme create a dynamic yet grounded environment. The red staircase and industrial textures are softened by strategic lighting and carefully composed sightlines.
Inspired by the communal nature of Vietnamese homes, The Living Room fuses raw materiality with refined hospitality—creating a space where tradition and modernity, boldness and warmth, meet effortlessly.
