Pasadena

Some homes are defined by a single dramatic gesture, Pasadena is defined by the richness of everyday life. Set within a secluded hillside estate in Los Angeles, California, the custom home feels both generous in size, and easy to live in, with spaces for everything from quiet family evenings, to hosting on a grand scale.

A minimalist modern exterior gives way to an expansive interior shaped by natural light, extensive glazing, and open living spaces. Responding to fire department access requirements, the main and upper levels are organized as two separate wings that remain connected on the lower level. Between them, the central pool terrace becomes a focal point for everyday living, with the kitchen, living, and dining areas opening toward it, while a cigar lounge, Mah-Jong room, meeting room, and formal dining room accommodate more intimate and formal entertaining.

Upstairs are the private quarters, where the primary suite enjoys its own sense of retreat, with generous dressing rooms, a home office, and private terrace with views. Family bedrooms, guest suites, and accommodations for parents are all arranged nearby, each with their own private outdoor space, or balcony.

While the main floor is centered around everyday living, and formal entertaining and hosting, the lower level is dedicated to wellness and entertainment. Open to landscaped sunken courtyards, it enjoys a degree of natural light and feeling of openness rare in below-grade spaces. The extensive entertainment options include a home theater with gaming area, recording studio, karaoke room, golf simulator, poker and pool tables, Chinese tea room, and wine and cigar lounge. A home gym, juice bar, salon, and massage room invite relaxation and self-care. The lower floor also houses a luxury display garage for the owner’s car collection, with integrated vehicle turntable.

Outdoors, the central pool terrace is reached via sliding glass walls in the main living areas. Anchoring the outdoor space with its generous sixty-five-foot design, the pool includes a kid’s shallow end and spa, and is surrounded by outdoor dining areas, a BBQ, fire features, sculptures, and shaded lounges for luxury resort style living year around.

Pasadena’s custom design transforms an expansive and varied residential program into a home that feels calm and cohesive, seamlessly integrating family life, entertaining, luxury amenities, and a distinctly West Coast connection to the outdoors.
