1. LOCATION / CONTEXT
The home is located along the Potomac River above the great spillway in Bethesda MD about 15 minutes from Georgetown in Washington DC. The site is narrow with a long cascaded drop of about 200 feet into the C&O canal and the Potomac River
2. CLIENT / PROGRAM: Master suite with master bathroom and walk-in closet, 3 additional bedrooms, 3 baths, living, dining, 2 offices, kitchen with pantry, elevator, laundry room, family room, storage, 2 car garage, carp pools and landscapes.
CONSTRUCTION SYSTEMS:
The structural design of the building is wood truss, with steel beams and columns.
MATERIALS:
Brushed aluminum roofing, super-insulated storefront glazing, steel, maple ceilings, walls, floors and Brazilian slate tile.
8. SUSTAINABLE FEATURES:
A. Building technologies:

· Cross Ventilation using operable sliding glazing throughout

· All use of aluminum and steel is intended to underscore that metals are embodied energy and require the least environmental degradation for their life.

· Only select grade eco-cut hardwood for floors and engineered wood ceilings.
B. Site Planning:
· Save all major trees with pinpoint footings and
· Shading dramatically drops cooling loads, 65% of DC climate’s consumption is cooling.
· All water is naturally dropped from roof into catchment basins, and then naturally filtered in gravel beds prior to entering landscape.
· All plantings are non evasive original species indigenous to Washington DC
