The refurbishment of the townhouse is characterized by the custom-made kitchen and the bathroom on the top floor. Using the existing lowered part of the old kitchen, the new kitchen stands as a large block in the middle of the space between the lower part and the normal floor height, where there was first a wall with the closed kitchen in the lower part. On the side of the dining table, the kitchen has an unusual height which leads to the advantage of a clear view over the kitchen and the possibility to sit on the large stainless steel worktop. Due to the steps on either side of the kitchen block, the kitchen is part of a playful route. The lowered ceiling above the kitchen has been removed and the old beams are exposed. The bathroom is made into an open space between the children’s room and the corridor with stairs, where the sanitary components becomes like furniture in the room.
